You are not alone in your experiences. The Marriage Mentoring Initiative pairs you with an older couple who wants to listen and invest in your lives. Over the course of a year they’ll guide you through 14 conversations crucial for a healthy marriage. This isn’t crisis counseling, it’s an opportunity to share your story and learn from the life experience of another couple.
Marriage Mentoring is for any couple that wants more from their marriage, whether you’re drifting apart, feeling stuck or doing well, you’re eager to strengthen your relationship.
No, in fact if there are serious issues in your marriage – unfaithfulness, abuse, addictions or severe mental health issues – we urge you to find a good marriage counsellor. Mentoring is not designed for serious relationship repair; it’s designed for couples who proactively want to improve their marriage.
You will meet with your mentor couple for approximately 90 minutes a month. They will guide you through one of the conversations in your conversation guide and listen to you, encourage you and help you to determine some next steps to grow closer together.
The Marriage Mentoring Initiative is brought to you from FamilyLife Canada. We provide coaching and resources that equip churches to encourage couples in their community.
Yes, both couples will commit to absolute confidentiality. They will protect your story, as you protect theirs.
